About Us:

The West Virginia Tax Institute, Inc. was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation on March 31, 1951.

The goals of the West Virginia Tax Institute are to improve the level of tax knowledge and practice and to promote cooperation among attorneys, accountants and other interested groups.

In furtherance of these goals, the Institute annually presents a "Willard H. Erwin, Jr. Award" to outstanding students at the College of Business and Economics and a "Thomas N. Chambers Award in Taxation" to an outstanding student at the College of Law, West Virginia University. Selections of these cash awards are made on the basis of interest in taxation, scholarship, character and professional promise.
